Numa, native in Chrome
Until now, when Numa needed the web, it worked the browser the way a person does from across the room: it looked at the screen, found the button, moved the pointer and clicked. That works, but it is slow, it borrows your mouse and keyboard, and a page that shifts by a few pixels can send a click to the wrong place.
From today Numa works inside Chrome itself. It talks to the browser through its own extension — the way the leading browser agents are built — so it reads the page as the page is actually made, not as a picture of it, and acts on the real fields, links and buttons underneath.
What this changes
- Steadier control: Numa reads and types into the elements it means to, so forms get filled, menus open and pages load without guesswork about where things sit on the screen.
- It no longer needs your pointer: Numa works in its own tabs while you keep using yours. Your cursor stays where you left it.
- Longer tasks hold together: Because each step lands where it should, Numa can carry a piece of web work through many pages without losing its place.
You can always see which tabs are Numa’s
When Numa is working in a tab, the tab flashes blue. One glance at the tab strip tells you which tabs are yours and which ones Numa is busy in, so you never close its work by accident or type into a page it is halfway through. When it finishes, the blue goes away and the tab is simply a tab again.
Working beside you, at the same time
This is the part we care about most. Numa and you can now use the same computer at the same moment: you write an email in one window while Numa fills in a supplier form in another, or you read while it pulls numbers from three dashboards. Nobody waits for anybody to let go of the mouse.
It is how a good intern works. You hand something over, they get on with it at the next desk, and you can look across whenever you like to see how far they have got.
Nothing to set up
The extension comes with Numa. When you download and install Numa, it is added to Chrome for you, so the first time a task needs the web, Numa is already there. There is no store page to visit and no extra step to remember.
A building block
On its own, this makes Numa faster and more reliable on the web. More importantly, it is the ground the next things stand on. Work that runs for longer without anyone watching, several tasks moving at once, more of the job done end to end — all of it starts with an agent that can use a browser properly and share the computer with the person it works for. The updates we have coming next are built on this.
