What presence means in software
note · 15 July 2025 · numa
Presence is the sense that something is there even when you are not looking at it. A pet has it. A good assistant has it. Most programs do not — they exist only in the instant you summon them.
With Numa we are trying to give software a little of that continuity: a thing that holds context, notices change, and is recognisably itself from one day to the next. Not a face. Not a voice. Just the quiet feeling that someone is minding the work.
